AK Benedict read English at Cambridge and Twentieth Century Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Sussex. Following a career as an indie-rock singer and composer for film and TV, Alexandra now balances her time between writing and tutoring.
Her first novel, The Beauty of Murder, is in development for a major TV series. Her second, The Evidence of Ghosts, is published by Orion. She is currently writing a stand-alone thriller set in the Arctic Circle and a middle grade crime novel. As well as writing thrillers with a supernatural twist, Alexandra writes award-winning poetry, audio drama for Doctor Who and Torchwood, and short stories that feature in journals and anthologies including Best British Short Stories, New Fairy Tales, Scaremongrel,Great British Horror Stories and Best British Horror Stories.
Alexandra has over ten years’ experience of teaching creative writing. She specialises in mentoring nervous private clients through the process of writing a novel, from learning initial skills up to publication and beyond. She has guest lectured at the University of Brighton, University of Sussex and University of Stirling, is Visiting Lecturer and Tutor on the renowned Crime Thrillers MA at City, University of London, and is also a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Kent. She lives in Rochester with her partner and their dog, Dame Margaret Rutherford.
